Sometimes, after migrating hosts or servers, your Host's SSH Key will change. For security reasons, SSH/SFTP will report errors such as Host key verification failed
or, in some SFTP applications, Unknown Fingerprint Error - SSH
. This is expected and normal. It is also easy to resolve.
To begin, in Finder
click Go To Folder
at the top of your screen
~/.ssh
Type ~/.ssh
in the window at the top of your screen to open the ~/.ssh
folder.
known_hosts
Drag the known_hosts
file to the trash. A new known_hosts
file will be created for you the next time it's required.
