Making sure your website has an SSL certificate and loads over the secure protocol HTTPS (e.g. https://example.com) is an important step to secure your site, boost your SEO, and prevent browser warnings that will likely make your web visitors think twice before visiting your site. Luckily, it's extremely easy to configure RapidWeaver so that your website loads over HTTPS! Let's get started.
Before proceeding, make sure you have installed an SSL certificate for your website via your cPanel account. Check out our guide here for instructions on how to install an SSL certificate on your site.
Open your website's project file in RapidWeaver and head to the General Settings. In the Web Address
field, enter the URL for your website including the https prefix (e.g. https://example.com or https://www.example.com).
In your publishing settings, enter the URL for your website including the https prefix in the Website Address
field (e.g. https://example.com or https://www.example.com).
Save your project file by pressing and holding the Command (⌘) key, then pressing the S key on your keyboard.
That's it! You've now configured RapidWeaver so that your site is set to load over HTTPS.
It's important to ensure that both search engines and your web visitors are automatically directed to the HTTPS version of your website. In order to make that happen, it's necessary to set up an HTTP to HTTPS redirect via your cPanel. We have a guide here on how you can do that.
