How do I set up Chillimail in macOS Mail?

In this guide, we'll walk you through setting up Chillimail in macOS Mail. macOS Mail does not automatically detect connection settings. Additionally, we recommend setting up your account directly within Mail's Preferences instead of the System Preferences.

1. Open macOS Mail

Opening macOS Mail for the first time will prompt you to add an account. If you already have an account in Mail, a new account may be added by clicking the Mail menu in the upper left corner of your screen and selecting Add Account. Choose Other Mail Account... and select Continue.

2. Enter your Email and Password

Next Mail will ask you for your Email Address and Password. All fields here are required. Please enter you full email address and password and click Sign In. This step will fail, and that is normal!

Always use your full email address when logging into Chillimail. Your full email address is the username and domain name. For example, if your email address was joe@example.com, your User name would be joe@example.com. Using just joe will not not work.

3. Enter server details

macOS will not be able to connect right away. This is normal behavior because macOS Mail tries to guess some connection settings based on your domain name. Remember, all fields are required. Additionally, the User Name is the full email address.

If you omit the User Name or leave it blank, you will not be able to proceed. For the User Name, Automatic will not work. Please enter your full email address.

4. Success?

Mail will now connect. We, however, highly recommend that you do not leave it to macOS Mail to manage your mail connection. To ensure a stable mail connection, we recommend that you update the connection settings in macOS Mail as shown below. The Automatically manage connection settings in macOS Mail has shown to be unreliable and cause mail reliability issues. We recommend that you disable this option.
